The Rocket Mortgage Classic: A Triumph for Cam Davis

Australian golfer Cam Davis showcased his exceptional skills at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, securing his second PGA Tour title in an impressive fashion.

The PGA Tour descended upon Detroit for the annual Rocket Mortgage Classic at the picturesque Detroit Golf Club. This event, a highlight in the golf calendar, brought together an exciting field of world-class golfers. Ultimately, it was Australia’s Cam Davis who emerged victorious.

Notable players like Min Woo Lee and Cameron Young took full advantage of the Donald Ross-designed course, but by the end of Saturday, Aaron Rai and Akshay Bhatia were tied for the lead. On Sunday, Cam Davis surged ahead to finish at an impressive 18-under-par.

Aaron Rai's level-par final round wasn't enough to surpass Davis, resulting in a tie for second place at 17-under-par. Akshay Bhatia, unfortunately, stumbled on the final hole, missing a crucial four-foot putt that would have forced a playoff, thereby handing the victory to Cam Davis.

This win is particularly significant for Davis, as he previously won the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2021. His first victory came after a thrilling five-hole playoff against Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann. Reflecting on his performance, Davis expressed immense satisfaction and relief at avoiding another playoff scenario.

When interviewed, Davis shared his feelings: “It’s taking its time but it’s more relief than anything. It’s been a long time since the first one, so it’s very cool that my second one came where it happened last time.”
