PGA Tour Wraps Up 2024 at the Hero World Challenge

As the PGA Tour winds down for 2024, the Hero World Challenge took center stage, showcasing an elite 20-player field. Hosted annually by Tiger Woods at the breathtaking Albany Golf Course, this event is a standout on the calendar, offering both competitive golf and a tropical backdrop.

Scottie Scheffler, entering as the defending champion, left no doubt about his supremacy by finishing six strokes ahead of the competition. His stellar performance not only secured back-to-back Hero World Challenge titles but also marked his 9th win of 2024—a record-breaking feat that cements his position as the world’s top golfer.

Tiger Woods’ Iconic Event Draws the Best in Golf

The Hero World Challenge is more than just a PGA Tour event. Hosted by Tiger Woods, it gathers top-ranked players, including stars from the Official World Golf Rankings and select invitees chosen by the Tiger Woods Foundation. While Woods himself has often competed, he skipped this year’s tournament as he continues to prioritize his recovery.

Cameron Young set the early pace, delivering a stunning first-round 64 to lead the field. However, Scheffler quickly asserted his dominance, shooting a solid opening 67 and continuing with remarkable rounds, including a final-day 63 that sealed his victory at 25-under-par. Second place went to Tom Kim, who finished six strokes behind.

Scottie Scheffler’s Record-Breaking 2024

Scheffler’s remarkable 2024 season has been nothing short of historic. From claiming his second Masters green jacket to earning Olympic Gold and winning the Players Championship, the New Jersey native has redefined excellence. Holding the title of World No. 1 for 82 consecutive weeks since overtaking Jon Rahm in April 2023, Scheffler has proven himself unstoppable.

His final hole at the Hero World Challenge was a showcase of precision golf—an impeccable drive, a flawless approach, and a confident 4-foot birdie putt. Scheffler’s composure under pressure is unmatched, and his consistent performance has made him a household name in golf.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Despite his incredible success, Scheffler is already setting his sights on the upcoming season. Reflecting on his Hero World Challenge victory, he said:

“It’s really nice. I did some good things on the course this week and played a lot of solid golf. I’m fortunate to be lifting the trophy. Our next season starts in only a couple of weeks, so I’m going to go home, get a little bit of rest, and continue to work on the things I’ve been working on this off-season and get ready for the season to start.”

With his relentless drive and exceptional skill, Scottie Scheffler looks poised to make 2025 another record-breaking year. Golf fans can expect more spectacular moments from this unstoppable force on the PGA Tour.
