Amy Yang Secures First Major Victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

Amy Yang Triumphs at Sahalee Country Club

At the picturesque Sahalee Country Club in Washington, Amy Yang showcased her exceptional golf skills to claim her first major title at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Yang’s remarkable performance led her to a well-deserved victory, winning by a clear three strokes.

Yang’s Path to Victory

As the third women’s major of the year, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship saw South Korea’s Amy Yang in peak form. Competing in her 75th major championship after 16 years on the LPGA Tour, Yang finally captured her long-awaited victory. She reached a tournament-low score of 10-under-par during the final round but faced challenges with a bogey on the 16th and a double bogey on the 17th, finishing at 7-under-par. Despite these late-round setbacks, Yang maintained a three-stroke lead over her closest competitors—Ko Jin-Young, Lilia Vu, and Miyu Yamashita—who all tied for second at 4-under-par.

Reflecting on her achievement, the 34-year-old expressed her immense relief and joy, saying, “Winning a major has always been my dream. I came close several times and started doubting if it would ever happen. I’m very grateful and extremely happy to finally achieve this milestone.”

Anticipation for the Evian Championship

The next major on the LPGA Tour calendar is the Evian Championship, set to take place at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France. Golf fans eagerly await this event, where Celine Boutier will defend her title, promising another thrilling competition.
